Not a strong effort today, but trouble is brewing. First the good news... I got some work in today. I swam a smidge during Emma's water ballet class. 500 meter swim, 200 meter kick. The bad news... my elbow is acting up. It started hurting at the end of the workout on Monday night, and the pain is way too familiar. I had the same elbow problems a couple of years ago when I was training for the Save The Bay swim. In fact, it was so bad I had to back out of the swim the morning of the event (there is actually a much longer version of the story involving the Coast Guard, but a digress). When I first felt the pain/discomfort, it was very much an oh-f#$% moment because I knew immediately that the Bay swim was in jeopardy. I'm pretty sure that I can pull off the triathlon swim without much of a problem, but 1.7 miles is quite a bit different from a quarter mile. On the plus side, the 500 meter "stretch out" swim tonight was pain free. It hurts as I type this, but I think I can control the pain and just grind through the swim. I'll just have to back way off my workout plans for the next week. We'll see how the elbow responds over the next few swims... I've GOT TO get my butt out of bed for a run tomorrow morning!
