I have a the first triathlon of the summer in two weeks and am I actually getting a little bit nervous that I'm less than fully prepared. I've done a few in the past, but I've been semi-retired for the last couple of seasons.
I'm following this up with a 1.7 mile swim across Narragansett Bay the following week to raise money and awareness for the here.
Finding time to get the biking, running and swimming in with three kids and a startup is the biggest challenge - especially with a six month old. Lately I've been so tired in the morning I haven't dragged myself out of bed for runs which is the best opportunity for me to get any exercise in.
I've making up for a lack of a firm schedule by squeezing things in based on the kids schedule. For instance, my oldest had a swim meet in Verona on Thursday - 7.5 miles one way. I decided to bike there and back to get a ride in. I squeeze in swimming by working out with the local masters swimming team while she does water ballet as well.
Piece mealing an exercise program is great when you're just trying to stay in shape. Not so good when there is a race and physical test are involved.
So... I'm going to report in on my activities here. Whether or not I did anything. Hopefully, it will motivate me to get out of bed in the morning so I won't be forced to write that I slept in!
Going back a few days...
Thursday, July 3rd : Biked 15 miles. Ran 3.5 miles
Friday, July 4th : Swam 1 mile
Saturday, July 5th : Swam 500 meters (squeezed in during "adult swim" with the kids)
Sunday, July 6th : Biked 25 miles.
