Julio who?

No tears are being shed over the loss of Julio Lugo. I would never wish an injury on someone, but his torn left quadriceps really is the best thing to happen to my beloved Red Sox.

Lugo's 16 errors were the most by a shortstop in the American League and tied Florida's Hanley Ramírez for most in the majors. His .945 fielding percentage was the lowest among major league shortstops. Oh, and he's making $8.25M

And Jed Lowrie, the 24 year-old replacement who makes the league minimum? In 37 games, he's yet to make an error. Amalie Benjamin from the Boston Globe also pointed out this morning:

Jed Lowrie's two RBIs in the fifth inning give him 22 in 101 at-bats this season That matches fellow shortstop Julio Lugo's production - which came in 261 at-bats before he was placed on the disabled list
